South Windsor, CN - A 12-year-old girl was attacked by a loose dog causing "significant injury and trauma" to her face, police said. The victim was walking near a railroad crossing with a friend when a black, medium-sized dog approached them. Police said the dog appeared friendly at first but then jumped up onto the victim and bit her face. Police need help identifying the dog or its owners. Anyone with information should call: 860-644-2551
The description of this attack matches classic pit bull behavior. The dog attacks without warning, without a bark, growl or direct stare. Dog expert Randall Lockwood takes the behavior a step further in a law enforcement training video when he says: "The truly sinister communicator not only doesn't tell you what he feels or what he is going to do next. He lies to you. Fighting dogs lie all the time. I experienced it first hand when I was investigating three pit bulls..."
