Dog Mauling Victim Moved to Ohio Care Center
Update: Mariah Carver, 9 Years-OldUPDATE 1/29/08: Geneva County - After a pack of dogs violently attacked her daughter, Sylvia Carver recently attended a county commission meeting to express that a leash law and animal shelter are needed in the area. She says it is important to act and not keep talking about why officials can't.
"I don't want to see another child hurt like Mariah was hurt. Doctors said Mariah shouldn't even here right now. No parent should have to go through what we are going through. No parent, no child, no person," says Carver.1/15/08: Montgomery, AL - Nine-year old Mariah Carver was severely mauled November 26th, 2007 by a pack of bulldogs. She is now under new care in Cincinnati, Ohio at the Shriners Hospitals for Children. Here she will undergo physical therapy and attend school. Her mother says she is beginning to walk and hopes to go home in a few weeks.
DogsBite.org would like to underscore that Mariah has been hospitalized since the attack 1.5 months ago. Over 10 surgeries have been required to repair her torn body, with many more to come in the future. She suffered severe injuries to most of her body during the attack, in addition to the risk of losing a leg and possibly both ears. We surmise her hospital bills will stretch beyond a million dollars.

She's fighting for a leash law? That puts things into perspective doesn't it?
