DogsBite.org - In 2007, the State of Texas lead the nation in fatal dog attacks (7). Of these fatalities, 86% (6) were attributed to pit bulls. On May 18, 2008, a new Texan became a fatal attack victim of pit bulls: Tanner Joshua Monk, 7-years old. The statewide Texas anti-BSL measure, which forbids municipalities from enacting breed-specific laws, helps enable these tragic deaths and continues to allow owners and breeders of these dogs to go unregulated.
