Cocker Spaniel Killed by Chopper, the Neighborhood Pit Bull

UPDATE 04/18/08: A Municipal Court judge deemed the pit bull named Chopper to be "dangerous" after the dog killed a cocker spaniel. Due to a town ordinance that disallows "dangerous" dogs, Chopper's owner has 15 days to remove him, or police can seize the dog and Chopper's owner can be charged with harboring a dangerous dog.
03/04/08: Kills Cocker Spaniel, Neighbors in Fear
Lyman Village, SC - Chopper, the neighborhood pit bull, is causing a stir in Lyman. Last week a cocker spaniel walked into the pit bull's territory and was mauled to death while stunned neighbors watched in horror. Since then, a group of neighbors have been petitioning the town council to strengthen animal control laws. Chopper, they say, is a threat to the community.
Some residents fear for their animals, others for their young children, who may wander too close to the tethered dog. Cindy Pace, who has a son and witnessed the attack said, "Within seconds, that pit bull had that cocker spaniel and he never let him go until he was dead. He was out to kill that dog, and he killed that dog. And that very well could have been my son."
Would you feel safe having Chopper across the street?

A cocker killed by a pit? What about "cocker rage?" No match for a pit?

Pardon me if I am wrong, but Chopper looks to be on steroids.

What a shame. I have a cocker and won't let my dog near a pit. As soon as one nears I pick her up and carry her away.
