Camden, NJ - A 9-year-old boy was released from the hospital last night after being mauled by a pit bull-mix. The third grader was rushed to Cooper Medical Center, needing hundreds of stitches to his face. All bandaged up now, 9-year-old Kassime Reddick is remarkably well enough to be back at home
"I was petrified. I didn't even want to look at him," said Kassime's mother Shibisha.Kassime was walking home from school when he stopped to say hello to a dog, which belongs to Manny Cruz. Cruz says a pit bull, belonging to his neighbor, somehow broke free from his chain. Kassime apparently went to "go get the dog" because he was loose. Cruz says the dog jumped on Kassime once. In the second jump, he snatched him by the face, "I saw the blood fly."
Cruz says the struggle to get the dog off Kassime took place in a just few scary moments. Finally, he was able to separate them and placed Kassime on top of his car until the police arrived. The dog was taken to the Camden County Animal Shelter in Blackwood. In a report by animal control officers at the scene, the dog was identified as male and labeled as vicious.

Marquez, CA - After returning home from work, Bernie R. was in his Marquez Knolls backyard, reading his mail, when he heard a ruckus coming from the front of his house. As he went around the side to investigate, he saw his six-year-old Doberman, Zeke, under attack by two pit bulls.
Bernie's property is surrounded by a wrought-iron fence and gated, but the two dogs broke in through a front gate to get into to the yard. "They jumped on my dog and started tearing him apart," said Bernie. He tried to pull the dogs off, but neither pit bull had a leash or a collar. He kicked at one dog, which turned from Zeke and attacked Bernie.
Bernie grabbed a wooden patio chair and started hitting the dog; when the chair broke, Bernie grabbed a second chair to defend himself, and it also broke. Then he threw a ceramic basin at the dogs, which allowed Zeke a momentary escape. The smaller pit bull ran off. But the larger one, close to 100 pounds, ran after Zeke.
Bernie forced the dog off with a stick and hammer. Then he chased the pit bull out into the street. He yelled to a neighbor to call 911. In a stroke of genius luck, there was a UPS truck parked nearby with a door open. Conveniently, the dog jumped into the truck. Bernie slammed the door shut and waited for the police.
85 Year Old Woman Bitten on Face by Cocker Spaniel
Brooksville, FL - The bellyaching from pit bull advocates would have you believe that the media does not report attacks by other breeds. The media reports serious dog attacks, not ones that requires a stitch here and there. This is a serious attack by a cocker spaniel and the media is reporting it.
An 85-year-old woman suffered severe injuries to her face after a cocker spaniel attacked her in her Brooksville home. The victim, Marguerite Seeger, was home alone and apparently scrubbing the floor on her hands and knees when the dog began biting her. The victim's landlord, Betty Rymer, said "It was just God awful."
Rymer's husband and grandson were making repairs next door and heard the woman screaming. They rushed over to find Marguerite just inside the front door with "severe lacerations" to her face. The dog ran away from the men and into a bedroom where it was closed in. Animal Control took custody of the dog.
Rymer said the victim needed at least 60 stitches to her face and a plastic surgeon has been called in to the case. Seeger is on morphine for pain.

Another chain snappin' Pit mauls a kid!
Pit Bulls currently are dominating the under 80lb weight classes at Canine Weight Pulling competitions. Pound for pound they are probably the strongest dog created by man.
Containment measures which are considered normal for other dogs are not safe with the ultimate canine gladiator.
