UPDATE 07/18/22: A Chesterfield County man is now facing serious charges after a man was found dead after a dog attack. Chantell Ross, 47, faces one count of involuntary manslaughter and three counts of vicious unleashed animals in connection to the death of Scottie Brigman. His body was discovered in the middle of a dirt road off Bailey Saw Mill Road on May 14 covered in bite marks. Brigman was surrounded by four pit bulls that deputies say contributed to his death.

Chesterfield County, SC - Earlier today, the Chesterfield County Sheriff's Office reported that on May 14, deputies responded to a dirt road off of Bailey Saw Mill Road in the Ruby area, after a report of a man lying in the road. As deputies were traveling down the road, they observed several dogs in the area. "When deputies arrived on the scene, they found a deceased, white male with his clothing shredded, and bite marks," states a press release by the Chesterfield County Sheriff's Office.
"Coroner Kip Kiser identified the male as Scottie Brigman, 34 years of age. Brigman has been sent for an autopsy and we are awaiting the results. Four dogs have been taken from the area and are being sent for dental impressions," states the release. Of the four pit bulls; one was a stray and three belonged to a local resident. "Once we got a manner of death, we could take it to the solicitor and seek charges against the owner of those three pit bull dogs," Capt. Wayne Jordan said.

According to Traci Smith, who lives in the area, this is not the first attack by these dogs. Last month, when she was riding her horse down that same dirt road, the dogs attacked her horse. “They were biting my horse from the front, from the back, all directions," Smith told WSOC-TV in a telephone call. "And [my horse] was freaking out like you would expect him to do. He was jumping in the air, bucking, trying to run away but they were surrounding him and he couldn’t get away,” she said.
Horse owner Traci Smith believes the same pack of dogs attacked her horse last month.

Law enforcement departments across the United States should release consistent "baseline" information to the media and the public after each fatal dog mauling, including these items.
Same story with the pitbull killing people. no matter the constant pitbull killing they’re always saying it not dog fault it the owner or victim blaming oh my favorite one chihuahua are aggressive dog they bite the most people.let you never hear a chihuahua kill a person.

The loss of South Carolina tourism revenue should be brought up to the Governor and
Lt. Governor. Gov. Henry McMaster and Lt. Gov. Pamela Evette. If South Carolina residents cannot rely on safety from dangerous dogs, how can tourists visit SC and feel safe?
South Carolina tourism revenue generated $1.8 billion in state and local taxes in Feb 17, 2020 and supports one in every 10 jobs.
Today I have emailed both officials regarding the potential loss of their tourism revenue as people around the world remember Kyleen Waltman’s savage mauling in SC only 2 months ago. I emphasized that SC’s Animal Control depts. and police depts. must regain control of dangerous dogs.
Why didn’t they euthanize the dangerous things after they attacked the woman and her horse? Why does animal control always wait until they kill a human before they act! It’s insane! There’s a dangerous pit bull that stands on top of the storage shed in its yard and barks at the children who live in the apartments that have an adjoining fence. People have complained but the owner insist that it wouldn’t hurt a fly (just kill the neighborhood children) and wouldn’t be able to jump off their shed that sits against the fence! How does it get up or down without jumping? Animal control of course shooed the dog over the children! I personally don’t walk my new puppy in our neighborhood because of this dog but those kids don’t have the luxury to drive to a safe place where they can play!
So glad the state picked up the case and is actively pursuing charges!
