  1. It’s hard to believe OH is still such a mess. The guy running for Governor sounds promising, but who knows till he gets in office. I’ve only been to OH once, we took the highways most of the trip, I was surprised at how many stray dogs we saw on the side of the road, most alive. Coincidence or not due to their laws I don’t know.

  2. Methinks that this situation is going to need more than just Breed-Specific Legislation. It will also need Breed-Specific Litigation.

    Bring on the lawsuits.

And name Best Fiends as a defendant. It’s called following the money.

  3. Most laws involving humans do not permit them to commit a crime a SECOND time before having to pay the price…why are dogs more important than people?

I really, really, really appreciate your focusing on this important issue. It needs to be better understood by the public…we all love good dogs, but allowing them to repeatedly harm people? One of the FIRST functions of government is protection for the community…why live in groups if not for united protection. The vicious dog incidents arguably outstrip, for example, heinous crime coming from immigrants…let’s put our priorities in order. The vulnerable are most likely to be the victims.

    • Why are dogs more important than people, indeed! It’s absurd. If the argument is that the dog isn’t responsible, then hold the owner accountable for the first offense. Hold *someone* accountable; otherwise, there’s little incentive to be responsible, beyond human concern about others’ welfare, and it’s patently clear that most of these owners of aggressive dogs couldn’t care LESS about the welfare of their human and animal neighbors.

  4. Dog laws seem to be weak just about everywhere, which of course was not such a big problem before bloodsport dogs were rebranded as pet animals.
It’s past time they were rebranded to up the responsibility level for such a dangerous creature.

  5. Thanks for publishing this horrible story for the rest of the states. These terrible and sad stories happen again and again until we the people just stand up and shout out to our own state legislators for the changes that make everyone safer.
Help each state protect their own future victims, especially the children, infirm and elderly. Our family is dedicated to better Dangerous Dog laws in Florida right now! Our baby sister, Pamela J Rock, was a USPS carrier who was attacked and killed by a well known pack of 5 Dangerous Dogs in August 2022. This is our 2d year in the legislative process. We welcome you to visit Pam’s website on FL legislative progress: http://www.pamrockact.com

    • Tom, I just want to offer my condolences to your family. I clearly remember your sister’s story. What a beautiful soul. No one should ever suffer that way. Keep up the good fight. God bless you and your family.

  6. Why does Best Friends continue to fight for pit bulls? I personally have a hard time thinking that a bunch of cult members are so concerned about dangerous dogs because they have a soft spot anywhere other than in their heads. I have a little bit of experience with cults, having had a brother who joined one until they kicked him out for being more troubled than they were! So I have a really hard time seeing any of them as “good hearted” people who love animals! So what is behind their devotion to put bulls? Is it the fact that they kill people who are hated by this cult? Or is it that this bunch of grifters found a new way to make money without having to beg at the airport?

    • My vote is for bunch of grifters avoiding the airport mooching thing.

And, ISTR, Chicago Midway Airport has a big Best Fiends ad saying “Save Them All.”

Earth to Best Fiends: We can’t save them all. Nor should we.

  7. My daddy and mommy bought some American food last night

Yummy food like pizza and a cherry Coke

I wanted so much to taste them

    But I don’t have a tongue. I lost it

When my jaw was ripped off by a pack of pitbulls

    While I was playing outside.

    I can’t taste anything anymore

My feeding tube will be with me the rest of my life

While I long for delicious tastes on my tongue.

–Dedicated to a sweet, beautiful girl child of courage

  8. I hope the pitbull dogs will simply disappear.
Instead, they are getting more and more popular.
The number of people being killed by them is increasing.
At some point, the public will get the answer; but that may not be before thousands more Americans are killed by them. I’m too old to worry about it, but other people will have to worry about it. If a pitbull attacked me, I couldn’t possibly fight back. So I would be fatality injured. My GSD service dog doesn’t fight either so he’d also be killed. It is a sad state of affairs when people can be killed doing absolutely nothing wrong.
