Pit Bull Kills Her Dog
Archdale, NC - In another home invasion attack -- last month a pit bull ran into a blind woman's home and attacked and killed 2 of her pets -- an Archdale woman fended off a crazed pit bull with a butcher knife. Nancy Verzone says the pit bull first went after her rat terrier in her backyard. When she snatched her dog from the pit bull's jaws, the attacking dog followed her inside. "The harder I stabbed the more he got mad," said Verzone, who still has the bloody shirt.
Verzone said her rat terrier was injured so badly, she had her veterinarian euthanize the dog. The pit bull's owner shot the dog in the head and buried it in his yard. Animal Control later made him dig it up so the dog could be tested for rabies. Officer Cooper says because of the bullet wound to the dog's head, rabies testing came up inconclusive. So Verzone must now receive the rabies vaccinations. The pit bull's owner promised to cover the vaccination bill.
The cost tops $2400 dollars for a series of at least five shots.
