Elyria, OH - Willie H. Taylor would laugh when his pit bull would chase an Elyria man doing work at a neighbor's house. Taylor's amusement finally landed him in jail. According to a police report, a 44-year-old Elyria man was at his mother's house pulling weeds from her front yard when a tan pit bull came running at him from Taylor's home.
The dog chased the man around his truck twice before he escaped by jumping in the truck bed. The man then saw Taylor laughing at him from his front porch. Police went to Taylor's home and found the dog chained up. When an officer told Taylor, 60, about the complaint, he laughed and admitted that he lets his dog chase the man because it's funny to watch.
After Taylor refused to show police insurance paperwork for the dog, he was arrested and charged with not restraining his dog, obstructing official business, resisting arrest and not having required dog tags. The pit bull was taken to the Lorain County Dog Kennel. The victim declined to sign charges against Taylor for attempted assault because he feared retaliation.
We can only hope that Taylor does not get his dog back.
