Drive or Die Kennel Suspected
Preble County, Ohio - Investigators are continuing to build a case for a grand jury against a person they believe is a local dog fighter and fight-dog breeder. Police identified a website purported to be operated by this person known as Drive or Die Kennel, which states the following on their home page:
"We here at Drive or Die Kennels aim to be respectable dog owners/breeders and will only deal with respectable dogmen, (A Dying Breed). ...Our primary focus is the Maverick/Nigger Toby blood...If you desire to add some drive into your blood, you will find that here.
Authorities believe the dogs were used for fighting. They said they hope to file charges in the next couple of weeks. Meanwhile, Dayton & Montgomery County has confirmed that the suspect is a drug and alcohol counselor within the Public Health department. The person remains unnamed because charges have not yet been filed.
The website features photos of chained American pit bull terriers in a backyard. It carries descriptions boasting of the bloodlines and pedigrees of the dogs. The Web site also posts sale prices as high as $1,000. Though this is only half the amount that a backyard breeder in Brookline charges, who also boasts bloodlines.
David Vickers, Ohio's Director for the U.S. Humane Society, said the dogs seized did have scarring and injuries indicative of dogfighting. He said they have been moved from the Montgomery County Animal Resource Center to an undisclosed location.
