What Pit Bull Advocates Consistently Fail to Address
What pit bull advocates consistently fail to address is the savageness the victim of a pit bull attack undergoes. The violence of wounds inflicted by a pit bull on a human being or dog is monumental. Victims suffer lifelong ramifications from these injuries -- lifelong. Unless one sees a pit bull attack or hears the screams of a person being attacked, the immense violence is unimaginable.A pit bull's ability to inflict acute damage is the very reason that breed specific legislation is warranted to regulate them. In the most controversial pit bull ban in the country, the City of Denver proved that pit bulls have the propensity to exhibit unique behavioral traits during an attack (specifically 14 traits unshared by other breeds). These behaviors have a higher likelihood of causing more severe injuries or death.
If you are promoting breed specific legislation in your community, keep in mind that statistics of any kind can be argued. Issues regarding fairness and discrimination can be argued as well. What is not arguable, what pit bull advocates cannot and will not address is the massive violence pit bull attack victims experience and are left with for the rest of their lives.
