10/17/08: Dog to Be Put Down
Charlotte, NC - Two men recently helped a couple being attacked by their pit bull. Witnesses said they saw a woman being bit on the elbow then a man came out of the home, already bleeding from an apparent attack. The two men grabbed pieces of wood and a broom to fight off the dog. "There was no choice," Jeff Frost said, who used the piece of wood. "They were screaming for help, and someone had to come to the rescue."
The dog was taken away and will be put down.
Owners of dangerous dogs nearly always have the dog euthanized after it attacks them. When their dog attacks someone else or an animal (even if it is a second attack or when the attack results in amputation), they typically fight like mad to keep their dog alive. Two notable examples concern uncles in Kansas and New York. Each strove to keep their dogs alive after both inflicted serious attacks upon their nieces.
These types of attacks must destroy families.
