Summary: On September 25th, a pit bull killed two dogs and injured two others in Fresno. The dead dogs include a Pomeranian named Petie and Buddy, a small Poodle mix. A neighbor with a gun ran over to help and shot the pit bull in the leg, but it continued its attacks until being captured by Fresno Animal Control. Residents still can't find the owner of the attacking pit bull and have started hanging signs.

Police said the dog attacked Detective Ronald Altmann when officers raided a second-floor apartment at 204 Governor Street. It was the second time in 18 months that police had to kill a pit bull during a raid.

A Paterson police officer was shot by another officer by mistake. In December 2007, a pit bull was shot after attacking 6 people including 3 police officers. #302: Pit Bull Survives 8 Bullets from Police on Rooftop

Summary: Two police officers shot a charging pit bull on a rooftop of the Mariners Harbor Houses yesterday afternoon, authorities said. Neither officer was hurt. The dog survived and was put into the custody of the ASPCA, police said, although residents speculated that it couldn't possibly have survived the barrage, which they said comprised at least eight shots.

Summary: Police say the pit bull named Brutis attacked its 24-year old owner, Tony Burden, who was sitting down in a living room chair when the attack occurred. Tony's wife, Miriam Engelhardt, started hitting Brutis with an aluminum baseball bat as Brutis was "ripping" her husbands arm. Police arrived to both people screaming and shot and killed the animal. Summary: Last Saturday, a pit bull was shot when it charged officers conducting an investigation at a Dunn residence. Dunn Police Lt. Herman Chavis said he and his fellow officers have noticed an increase in loose dogs on their patrols of the city. "More people are keeping Pit Bulls," he said, "and when officers approach they become violent."

Summary: A frantic crowd gathered where a pit bull stood over a brown dog it had severely injured. When the brown dog tried to get up and escape, the chained up pit bull seized the animal’s head in its jaws. Police and an animal control officer tried to capture the pit bull, but it charged and a police officer shot it in the forehead, then he shot it again killing it.

#306: Dog Killed by Animal Control Officer

Summary: A pit bull attacked and repeatedly bit a 12-year-old girl as she was walking to her school bus stop Monday morning. The dog bit her several times on the legs, causing a serious injury to her left ankle. She was treated for her wounds at Hamot Medical Center. An animal control officer was called and later killed the dog after it acted aggressively toward the officer.

Summary: A West Reading police officer shot and killed a pit bull that was threatening to attack him while he was on patrol along the Schuylkill River. Officer Marco DeCamillo fired three times at the dog after it jumped in front of him and charged him while snarling and bearing its teeth. Authorities believe the dogs may have been abandoned.

Summary: A city worker was mauled at a park by two dogs, which ripped off the man's clothing and severely bit him as they dragged him through the grass. Both dogs were shot and killed by officers.
