The Detroit Story grows more disturbing:

Several bloodied puppies which apparently had been shot full of steroids in order to make them more aggressive were confiscated early Monday morning from what police say was a dog-fighting arena set up in the basement of a vacant west-side home.

Couple Shot Trying to Buy Pit Bull
A couple was shot early Saturday morning when they tried to buy a pit bull from a man on Detroit’s northeast side.

Detroit Police said the couple, a 33-year-old man and 27-year-old woman, went to the home in the 2400 block of Canton around 5 a.m. They apparently got into an argument with the man they were going to buy the dog from.

The man shot them and left the scene. Police are looking for him. The couple is reportedly in serious condition, Detroit Police Spokesman James Tate said. No other details were available.
