Flashback: Baby Seized by Pit Bull in Home Invasion Attack
Attacked During Holiday CookoutLouisville, KY- Back in July 2007, a toddler was taken to Kosair Children's hospital after being mauled by a pit bull. 18-month-old Kaylee Mintey was attacked by the dog after the animal came into the family's home during a Fourth of July cookout. Virgil Holland, who attended the gathering, said the loose pit bull flew into the house while the group was eating in the kitchen with the door open.
"The dog came through the door, went under the table and grabbed the little baby by its head," Holland said. "It was slinging her around. I throwed my foot on its neck until it turned her loose and then I pushed the baby back." After Holland grabbed the pit bull off the baby, he threw the dog into a storage room until animal control officers could get there.
The 18-month-old girl was transported to Kosair Children's Hospital and was listed in critical condition.
