Two Survivors of Pit Bull Attacks Stabilized
Two people attacked by pit bulls roaming the Treme section of New Orleans are now in stable condition at Tulane Medical Center after undergoing surgery for injuries from the attack. One of the victims, a 4-year-old girl, was knocked down and bitten in multiple areas. The Tulane doctor comments:
"The patient was in a life-threatening situation, and she is extremely lucky to be alive, but she is recovering very well."
The dogs then attacked a 56-year-old man a couple of blocks away. Raymond Hall was also knocked to the ground and bitten in multiple areas. The attack stopped only after a bystander shot one of the dogs. Mr. Hall is lucky to have both hands:
"The artery supplying blood to Mr. Hall's arm was severely injured, and the survival of his hand was at risk. Because we were able to operate immediately, we were able to bypass the damaged area and save his hand."
