2 Pit Bulls Accused of Killing Small Dog
2-Day Rampage Leads to DeathFitchburg, MA - Brenda Ramos' two pit bulls killed a small dog during a two-day rampage. Ramos, 44, of 66 Fairmount St., is charged with failing to license her dogs, violating dog rabies vaccination orders and disobeying dog orders. Police Officer Shelbie Hertel says Ramos' dogs ran loose in the Cleghorn neighborhood for two days, on Nov. 14 and 15, killing a small dog and possibly mauling two cats.
Hertel responded to a report of loose dogs on Nov. 15, and found a small dog apparently injured by one of the pit bulls. The little black dog was severely injured and fighting for its life. It later died from its injuries at a veterinary hospital. The two pit bulls had mauled two cats the day before.
Hertel spotted two pit bulls running through the neighborhood near where the small dog was found. The dogs were eventually taken into custody and Ramos was identified as the owner. She told Hertel the small dog entered her yard and the pit bulls broke out of the house and chased it. Ramos denied her dogs had anything to do with the cats on Federal Street.
